The security firm played a role in his apprehension at the 2024 Grammy Awards. The event took place after Killer Mike, known by his real name Michael Render, secured three awards: Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. While heading backstage to the red carpet area, a security guard detained him, resulting in his arrest and removal from the venue in handcuffs.
In the lawsuit, Render asserts that the security guard disregarded his efforts to explain his identity and reason for being in the secured area. He alleges that several security guards unlawfully detained him, employing physical force to restrict his movements. The suit charges the defendants with abusing their authority to degrade, embarrass, and physically harm him in public, leading to emotional distress and public humiliation.

The lawsuit encompasses allegations of false arrest and imprisonment, assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. Render is requesting a trial and unspecified compensation. S&S Labor Force, doing business as JRM Security, has refuted any misconduct, asserting they had "zero involvement" in the incident and highlighting their dedication to ethical practices.
After the incident, the Los Angeles City Attorney's office chose not to press charges against Render in July 2024. Killer Mike discussed the experience in his song "Humble Me" from the album Michael & the Mighty Midnight Revival: Songs for Sinners and Saints, contemplating the arrest and its effects on him.

This legal case underscores persistent worries regarding security measures at significant events and the handling of prominent individuals in these environments.
